This is a question that many of our customers have asked.
Restoring a used piano is not only a very tedious and time-consuming process but it requires well-trained and experienced piano technicians to do the job properly.
With over 30 years of experiences in the industry, we at Pusat Muzik LKS Setapak Sdn Bhd are now able to produce a daily rate of up to 8 units of fully-restored pianos.
All the used pianos are handpicked and imported by batches directly from Japan. These yet-to-be restored pianos are safely stored at the large warehouse before they are sent to our factory.
To simplify our complexed restoration process, we have summarised it into 7 main stages:
Mainly dismantling and labelling of piano parts (panels, tops, key covers, actions, keyboards, etc); and covering up to protect all important areas of the piano (sound board, iron frame, key-frames, etc).

Piano parts and panel dismantling
Most of the work are on patching uneven surfaces and pores, spraying (base colour is usually black), sanding (to achieve smoothness) and ending with an additional finishing coat. Total – 4 layers.
We do offer custom paint job as well – giving your piano a new, unique and exclusive appearance, that shines apart from the others.

Piano sanding and spraying
Polishing of all cabinetry surfaces, covers and internal metal parts like iron frame, pins, strings, pedals, etc.
Removing and replacing worn and torn parts, re-assembling, aligning and regulating all the action components like centre pins, hammers, keys, dampers, bridle straps, adjusting the key-frames and keyboards.
Voicing of the hammerheads are done at this stage as well.

Piano action overhauling
Each piano will be re-tuned to its standard concert pitch (A440) before it is ready to be displayed at the showroom for sale. At this stage, all pianos are about 90% completely restored.

Piano final QC, tuning and regulation
Upon receiving orders, the sold pianos will undergo surface re-polishing; followed by action, keys and pedals re-testing to ensure all the necessary components are 100% functional, and that they are properly aligned with excellent touch and perfect tones.
The reconditioned pianos go through all the completed stages above and are stringently checked before they are carefully packed and delivered to their designated destinations throughout Malaysia and other countries internationally.
